Simaudio CD3.3X, Part 7
My fellow males and I just didn't understand. We had thought and assumed that our female friends and classmates would be upset with Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back." But the opposite was true. We guys sat in stunned silence, when girl after girl stood up, and said, "'Bout time!"
Personally, my friends Gwen, KJ, Margaret, and Patricia all whooped it up to this song. I guess they were all tired of trying to conform to Barbie dimensions. So when Sir Mix-A-Lot referenced Flo-Jo, all the girls nodded and saluted in appreciation. In the summer of 1992's second half, "Baby Got Back" would reach mainstream acceptance with the general public. After summer school ended, my dad joined my mom and brother in Honolulu. But I stayed behind at home in S.F. So, for the very first time in my life, I was home alone. Yes!!!
Among others, KJ would come over. While "Baby Got Back" was playing [if you really must know, my main stereo consisted of NAD 5000, Sony TAE-1000ESD, Muse Model One Hundred, Paradigm 5se], KJ would pull down her pants, show off her big butt, and shake it!Okay, while you guys are taking a close look at KJ's rear, you should also take a close look at the Simaudio CD3.3X's rear. While they aren't big butts, the analog RCA jacks are kind of closely spaced. Yet, there's enough space in the butt crack to accommodate interconnects with fat barrels or locking RCA plugs. Sounds kinky, but isn't. Supposedly, the RCA jacks are supposed to have an output of 2V. I don't have a measuring device, so I can't tell you exactly what it is. In real life, the analog outputs seem healthy, which may not be a good thing, if your preamp is too loud, even when the volume control is at or near MIN.
The "X" designation in CD3.3X indicates that the player sports the fully balanced XLR analog outputs. These were a $200 option. They are now standard on the 360D. While the RCA jacks are positioned left-right, the XLRs are positioned up-down. Thankfully, the XLRs conform the to "pin-2 is positive" standard. Supposedly, the XLRs have an output voltage of 4V. In real life, they do seem 6dB louder than the RCA analog outputs.
I was going to say something about the girls of 1992, but I won't. What would be better for the ladies is if someone would come out with a "Baby Got Back" equivalent, celebrating males' muscular butts. Unlike CD players of 1992, the Simaudio CD3.3X sports a digital input AND output. Sorry, the CD3.3X does not have AES/EBU, Toslink, or USB inputs.

Sir-Mix-A-Lot was a favorite of another lady, one I knew, who also had the initials KJ. In some ways, however, the resemblance ends there.
