  • Crimson Audio RM Music Link Speaker Cable, Part 4

30 years ago, I was at my first-floor neighbor's unit.  He must have been around 6 or 7 years old.  I don't know what we were doing, but as we looked out the sliding glass door, our neighbor and friend, Curtis (also 6 or 7 years old), came running down the hill.  He was singing Joan Jett & The Blackhearts' "I Love Rock 'N' Roll" at the top of his lungs.  My audiophile friends, that is what music is about!

People completely forget that Joan Jett & The Blackhearts also covered Tommy James and the Shondells' "Crimson And Clover."  It's not "Crimson And Clover," but Crimson Audio's RM Music Link has been accused of being a CAT5 cable.  So I pulled out a CAT5 cable, above, and compared it to the RM Music Link.  The CAT5 is slightly thinner.

We're still trying to figure out what Crimson Audio are all about.  Apparently, they are better-known for their electronics.  Though Crimson Audio are from the U.K., we're not sure why they themselves don't terminate the cable.

Back in early '82, we didn't know about anything other than the phone jack.  Well, in the mid-90s, home computers started incorporating the 8P8C (8 Position 8 Contact) modular connector.  Geez, the 8P8C makes a better connector than spades.  Since audio gear doesn't use the 8P8C, ditch spades, and get bananas instead.
