  • Crimson Audio RM Music Link Speaker Cable, Part 2

Because Huey Lewis And The News were from the Bay Area, we were well aware that they were working on Picture This.  In fact, that album was recorded right here in San Francisco.  Interestingly, the album's biggest hit, "Do You Believe In Love," was written by Mutt Lange, who, simultaneously, was enjoying success with Def Leppard.  "Do You Believe In Love" can still be heard on the radio.  But my favorite song on the album is the seldom-played "Workin' For A Living."

When I got to UC Santa Cruz in late 1989, the bathrooms were equipped with lousy "lo-flow" fixed shower heads.  No, they were not as nice as the one above.  Because so little water trickled out of the UCSC shower heads, no one could quickly take a shower.  You ended up taking a half-hour shower -- a waste of time and a waste of energy needed to heat the water.  Ultimately, since we needed so long to shower, we probably ended up using more water than if the flow had been stronger.

Down the hall from me was a girl (I forget what her name was) who looked like a brown-haired version of Marcie from the Peanuts.  I heard her complain, "When I squat and pee, the flow is more than these shitty showers."

Maybe it was in early 1990.  A neighbor got a wrench, removed a fixed shower head, and installed a hose & shower head apparatus.  It worked like a charm!  However.  Building maintenance discovered the hose & shower head, then wrote a declaration, warning that "tampering" with fixtures was forbidden, a violation of the students' residential agreement.  So back went the shitty fixed shower head.

Sigh, the Crimson Audio RM Music Link speaker cable is as thin as the piddy streams which trickled out of my dorm's fixed shower heads.  The lack of water meant it was hard to get soap to work up a lather.  And at the end of your shower, the lack of water made it difficult to wash off the soap.  Sigh...

Here in the United States, Austin Hifi themselves terminate the Crimson Audio cables.  Interestingly, the heat shrink wrap reads, "crimsonusa.com."  Furthermore, the RM Music Link speaker cable is directional, as indicated by the signal flow arrows.

The thought of the brown-haired Marcie-looking girl makes me shudder.  But one night, I was brushing my teeth, and I overheard her in the shower singing "Do You Believe In Love."  Hey, if you're going to be in that shower for half an hour, better make it enjoyable

I believe the speaker cable is available in a variety of terminations.  But Austin Hifi seem to prefer bananas, a most intelligent, practical, wise, and correct choice.  If the cable itself is thin, look at how thin the leads are.  So you know this cable can be routed pretty much anywhere, including cramped quarters.
