  • Cardas Quadlink 5-C, Part 3

    Corrosion Of Conformity hailed form, of all places, Raleigh, North Carolina.  But I guess that is what caused them to be so anti-conservative.  I mean, if you lived in Jesse Helms land, wouldn't you be depressed and pissed?

    But when Corrosion Of Conformity came out with the excellent Blind 20 years ago, the deafening stink of grunge and rap drowned Corrosion Of Conformity out.  Considered by many to be years ahead of its time, Blind is nevertheless an important influence on aggro-thrash bands such as Fear Factory, Korn, and Limp Bizkit.

    Yes, the CD in Aiden's hand is the one I had 20 years ago.  In 1991, while listening to Corrosion Of Conformity, I had replaced the subpar Monster Cable products with the bland AudioQuest cables.  I didn't have Cardas.  All that time, I always looked at Stereophile and the Audio Advisor catalogs, and wondered if I should have gone with Cardas instead.  You see, in those days, there were no audiophile guides, no internet, no directions, no way to connect with others and learn from them. 

    But the Cardas Quadlink 5-C is directional.  The arrows indicate which way signal should flow. 

    20 years ago, the Cable Cooker did not exist.  There was a device called the Duo-Tech Enhancer.  But hardly anyone had it.  Thus, all of our cables went without being properly burned-in.  The sample of Quadlink 5-C you see above is from the mid-90s.  It has seen years of playing time.  But on the Cable Cooker it goes...
