dCS Puccini, Part 19
I remember 15 years ago, listening to what was then the new Oleta Adams album, Move On. It featured another Brenda Russell song, "We Will Meet Again."
Here on Columbus and Jackson is the burger joint, Pickles, which recently closed. Before Pickles was Clown Alley, which went through its ups and downs. On the way from work to Tower Records, I often passed Clown Alley. Once in a while, I'd stop and eat. One time, 15 years ago, I ate there with my friend Yucky. I'll never forget the way time stood still, when we heard Adams' "I Knew You When."At the time, Yucky was working at several local Victoria's Secret stores. I never did visit her while she was working. But when I went over to her place, she had a chest bed. In one drawer, she had nothing but bras, most of which were from Victoria's Secret. Yucky was enamored with all the colors and styles. It used to be that you weren't supposed to let any part of your bra show. But Yucky liked the bras so much, she said she didn't mind breaking that "rule" about not wearing a colored bra under a white blouse.
If you read about the dCS Puccini, including here on my blog, you'll find a lot about the Puccini's four upsampling modes. And indeed, some of the Puccini's most refined sound, and largest soundscapes, can be had by using one of the four Filters. Well, let me tell you a little secret. The Puccini sounds most accurate, honest, and musical in straight PCM mode. That's right. If you have felt that the Simaudio Andromeda and Wadia 781i were the better CD players, I wouldn't fault you. That's 'cuz the Puccini's upsampling neuters the music. But using the Puccini in PCM mode evens the score, makes the Puccini competitive with the Andromeda and 781i.Want to break that "rule" about wearing a white blouse over a colored bra? Use the Puccini in PCM mode. In PCM mode, instrumental textures and colors aren't as whited-out.
Want to break that "rule" about not letting bra straps show? Use the Puccini in PCM mode. In PCM mode, music sounds more frisky and alive. When I lived on campus housing at UC Santa Cruz, I had a hunch that most girls, while sleeping, preferred not to wear a bra. Indeed, here on xanga, the blogs about this topic show that most female xangans opt not to wear a bra to sleep. So, want to break that "rule" that says you must sleep with your bra on? Leave the bra in the drawer. Liberate your twins. Use the Puccini in PCM mode. In PCM mode, music sounds liberated.
