Jeff Rowland Continuum 250, Part 5
25 years ago, Motley Crue broke through with what is arguably their best (in musical terms) album, Shout At The Devil. Originally, the album cover was black with nothing but a pentagram on it. Because the Crue were so outlandish, if they weren't outright banned, media outlets refused to play them. In order for me to hear what all the fuss was about, I had to borrow the cassette from a classmate..
Motley Crue quickly changed the album cover to one showing pictures of themselves in costume. Don't laugh, but they claim it was modeled after the Beatles' Let It Be. Heck, Shout At The Devil even includes a remake of the Fab Four's "Helter Skelter."In the late 80s, MTV would play "Looks That Kill" on the Headbangers' Ball. But to this day, one of the Crue's best songs, "Too Young To Fall In Love," rarely gets any airplay. Starting from when I was in high school, I took this album with me to audition audio gear. In those days, it was great. Shout At The Devil drove out all those weak-ass, sniveling, anti-social, annoying, petulant audiophiles, leaving me alone with Da System. Alas, if you play this album nowadays, even the nerds think it's "cool."
If you still use cassettes or LPs, you'll have to flip 'em over, to get to side 2. Likewise, Tessa is starting to flip over. And if you want to use the Jeff Rowland PC-1 on the Continuum 250, you'll have to flip the latter over, and remove six hex screws.
Damn, I can't get a clear shot of the innards. Anyway, you need to (a) replace the original fuse with that of another electrical value, and (b) move the jumpers to allow 220V operation. Do this for both channels.
Then attach the pigtail from the PC-1 to the Continuum 250:
From the wall outlet to the PC-1, you may use any of your favorite aftermarket 15-amp powercords. Below, we are using the Acrolink P/C-046:
I've seen Jeff Rowland in person. He seems like a pleasant, nice fellow. I don't know which powercords he uses. Maybe the red Oyaide plugs remind him of Motley Crue. But I wouldn't be surprised if Jeff is the type who, when no one's looking, plays and enjoys the Crue.
